Proud Willem-Alexander presents his daughterDecember 7th, 2003: 21.45, The proud father shows his daughter

At 21.30 a press conference was held at the Bronovo hospital, where the young princess was born. The press was able to ask the attending physicians a few questions before the proud father entered the room with his newborn daughter. He told the press his daughter is 'the most beautiful daughter in the whole world'.

The PrincessFurthermore the Prince told the journalists he was expecting a quit Sunday and had experienced the birth as a wonderful moment. Máxima's mother (Maria del Carmen Cerruti de Zorreguieta) also assisted her daughter. It was als revealed Máxima was ordered bed rest during the last nine weeks of her pregnancy, due to a complication that occurs quite often during pregnancy. The nature of the complication was not given.

Salutes for the new PrincessDecember 7th, 2003: 17.01: A Princess is born!

At 17.01 Princess Máxima gave birth to a healthy baby girl. The princess, who was assisted by gynecologist dr. Smeets and pediatrician dr. Kreijen, had a natural birth, which took eight hours and went absolutely normal.

The RijksVoorlichtingsdienst officially announced the birth at 17.28u. The little princess weights 3310g and is 52cm long.  At 17.45u 101 salutes were fired in The Hague, Den Helder, Willemstad and Oranjestad.
Queen Beatrix, Prince Friso and his fiancee Mabel arrived at 17.30 to see the baby.

December 7th, 2003

Princess Máxima was admitted to Bronovo hospital at 9.10 this morning to give birth to her first child. The princess, who had to rest after 'prinsjesdag', was last seen last Thursday, when shopping with her mother in The Hague.
