Infanta Cristina of Spain

Infanta Cristina of SpainInfanta Cristina Federica Victoria Antonia de la Santisima Trinidad was born on June 13th, 1965 at the clinica Nuestra Señora de Loretto in Madrid. She was baptized by the Archbisschop of Madrid.

Cristina is the second child of King Juan Carlos and Queen Sofia of Spain. She has an older sister, Elena and a younger brother, Felipe, who is the heir to the throne.

After secondary education Cristina studied Political Science in Madrid, which she finished in 1989 with a degree. She also obtained a Master's degree in International Relations at the University of New York. She was employed at the UNESCO for a while and now lives in Barcelona, where she works for La Caixa Foundation.

Cristina is a very sports engaged woman. She participated in the 1988 Seoul Olympics as a sailor. In 1996 she met her husband, handball player Iñaki Urdangarín, at the Atlanta Games. The couple got married a year later on October 4th, 1997.

Cristina and Iñaki have three sons, Juan Valentín, who was born on September 29th, 1999; Pablo Nicolás, born on December 6th, 2000 and Miguel, born April 30th, 2002; all at the Clinica Teknon in Barcelona.
