Princess Laurentien of the Netherlands

Princess Laurentien of The NetherlandsPetra Laurentien Brinkhorst was born on May 25th, 1966 in Leiden, The Netherlands as the second child of Laurens-Jan Brinkhorst and his wife Jantien Heringa. She has one older brother, Marius Eward.

Young Petra grew up in The Hague, her parents and Constantijn's are good friends. Before going to high school she decided she wanted to be called Laurentien, and so 'changed' her name. Laurentien als went to the Eerste Vrijzinnig Christelijk Lyceum at The Hague, but never graduated there. She followed her parents to Japan, where she graduated International Baccalaureat from the Lycee Français.

Laurentien studied History in Groningen, Politics in London (finished with a bachelor's in 1989) and finally took a Master's in Journalism at Berkeley University. She finished in 1991 with a thesis on Street Prostitution.

Laurentien worked for CNN in Atlanta from 1991 to 1992 and then moved to Brussels, where she and Constantijn grew closer and started dating. In Brussels Laurentien worked for the Belmont European Policy Centre, Philip Morris and until her marriage for Adamson BSMG Worldwide, where she was vice president.

Constantijn and Laurentien got engaged on December 16th, 2000 and where married in The Hague on May 17th and 19th of 2001.

Since their marriage the couple lives in London, Constantijn workes for Booz, Allan and Hamilton and Laurentien has stayed with Adamson BSMG, but opted for the London department.

Laurentien loves sailing, tennis and skiing. She also likes to read and travel.
