Prince Constantijn of the Netherlands
Constantijn Christof Frederik Ashwin was born by
c-section at the Academic Hospital in Utrecht on October 11th, 1969 to Princess Beatrix
and Prince Claus. He is the youngest of their three children; he has two brothers:
Willem-Alexander and Johan Friso.
Constantijn was raised at Castle Drakensteyn in Laage Vuursche. He was able to live in anonimity until his mother became Queen in 1980. The 80's were marked by the health problems of his father Prince Claus.
Constantijn went to high school at the Eerste Vrijzinnig Christelijk Lyceum at The Hague were he graduated with VWO-levels in 1987. After taking a year of in France to study languages, he started University at Leiden, majoring in Law.
After graduation in January 1995, Constantijn worked for the kabinet of European Commissionar Hans van den Broek, father of Princess Marilène. Constantijn specialised in difficulties concerning refugees.
In Brussels his friendship to Laurentien Brinkhorst became love. They announced their engagement on December 16th, 2000. Constantijn was studying at the famous MBA school of INSEAD at Fontainebleau where he graduated in December 2000.
After their marriage, the couple will make their home in London, where Constantijn will work for Booz, Allan and Hamilton and company advisor.
Constantijn is very active in sports and also very creative.
