May 7th, 2001 - Today CrownPrince Filip of Belgium and his wife
Princess Mathilde announced the upcoming birth of their first child, possible heir to the
Belgian throne.
The couple announced the news at a special press conference at the Palace of Laeken. The baby will be born in November.
Media in Belgium covered the press conference live and are overjoyed about the news. It will be the first baby born to a Crown Princely couple in Belgium in 71 years; since the birth of the late King Boudewijn in 1930.
